Williamstown is unimaginable without the Morning Star Hotel. Trading in the bayside `burb since 1896, the local icon recently enjoyed a fabulous glow-up courtesy of publicans Stephen Mitchell (The Bridge Hotel), Matt Vero (Marquis of Lorne, Mount Erica, Orrong Hotel) and Williamstown local Aaron Onofretchook.
This group of pub connoisseurs certainly know how to update a venue without sacrificing its soul. The new and improved Morning Star has kept its keen sense of community spirit while bringing it into the modern era with a refreshed, elevated take on the classic local pub.
Visit now and you’ll be struck by a vibrant, relaxed venue imbued with a healthy dose of rakishly retro coastal charm thanks to a redesign by Studio A Mi.
The easy-drinking wine list features local beer and wine plus sparkling cocktails (make ours a Tommy’s margarita, thanks). Chef Ben Isaacs has delivered the food goods with an additively spice-crusted potato grain with caramelised onion alongside a brilliant version of fan favourite chicken parma.
A successful launch done and dusted (coverage included a feature on Postcards), we’ll be found enjoying happy hour there every Friday afternoon!
